314 Action Releases Statement on Mark Kelly’s 2020 Senate Announcement

314 Action Spearheaded a Draft Mark Kelly Campaign to Build Grassroots Support

(Washington, D.C.) -- Following this morning’s announcement from retired NASA astronaut Mark Kelly’s campaign that he will run as a Democrat for the Arizona U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Martha McSally, Director of Communications for 314 Action,Ted Bordelon, released the following statement:

“Captain Mark Kelly’s life has been spent committed to public service, and 314 Action’s network of more than 500,000 pro-science advocates is excited for him to continue that commitment by running for U.S. Senate in Arizona. Captain Kelly’s experience as an astronaut who has seen earth from space has informed his life’s work and make him uniquely suited to lead on so many issues -- importantly, on climate change. Our grassroots network looks forward to supporting his candidacy.”

Kelly has been a tireless and outspoken advocate for the most pressing issue of our time, climate change. And his experience as an astronaut ensure that he’ll bring a data-driven, evidence based approach to policy-making if elected to the Senate. It’s why 314 Action launched DraftMarkKelly.org and why we are proud to support him following today's announcement.
