314 Action Endorses 14 Candidates for Federal, State and Local Seats
Endorsed Scientists Include Candidates In VA’s Gubernatorial, Congressional Districts CA-39, TX-21, VA-5, UT-3, MA-6, CA-7 and CA-36
(Washington, D.C.) -- Today, 314 Action (named for Pi…) announced its endorsement of 7 Congressional Candidates, 1 Gubernatorial candidate and 6 state races. A full list of endorsements is included at the end of this release.
314 Action is the nation’s largest and only resource specifically created for scientists and STEM professionals seeking assistance running for office. Since launching a candidate recruitment effort in January, more than 6,000 scientists and STEM professionals have reached out for support and training.
314 Action’s endorsement comes with direct support from the 314 Action Fund PAC, supported by 314 Action’s donor network of 225,000 scientists and STEM advocates nationwide. Similar to other organizations such as EMILY's List, 314 Action plans to do everything it can to help elect its slate of endorsed candidates.
Founder and Board President of 314 Action Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:
“The response to our candidate recruitment effort has been overwhelming -- and telling. There is a war on facts being waged in the White House and science is squarely in the eye sights of those who wish to muddy the waters.
The candidates we are endorsing today are clear evidence that the scientific community has had enough. 314 Action is proud to stand with their campaigns and what they represent -- a call for evidence-based policymaking and a return to science, facts and reason in the halls of power.
Our endorsed candidates should know that the 314 Action network -- and the scientific community -- are behind them 100 percent, and will be through the entirety of their campaigns.”

314 Action is the largest and only resource specifically created for scientists and STEM professionals seeking assistance running for office. 314 Action is a nonprofit 501(c)(4) that was founded by members of the STEM community, grassroots supporters and political activists. Formed in July 2016, 314 Action has over 225,000 active members and donors across the United States. 314 Action is concerned that STEM education in the United States is falling further and further behind the rest of the world, that our political leaders continue to deny scientific facts and that Congress fails to fully fund scientific research so we can solve pressing issues.
