314 Action Releases Statement on Veteran and Engineer Chrissy Houlahan’s Candidacy for Congress

Houlahan Announced Her Run for Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, Currently Held By Congressman Ryan Costello

(Washington, D.C.) -- Today, following the announcement of Chrissy Houlahan’s bid for U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania’s 6th District, 314 Action released the following statement:
“Chrissy’s announcement comes as the Trump Administration’s assault on science reaches a fever pitch with research funding threatened, departments such as the EPA under fire and climate change denialism often going unchecked in the halls of Congress,” said Ted Bordelon, 314 Action’s Director of Communication. “We need more people with STEM backgrounds like Chrissy to step up to the plate and run for office, and we hope her candidacy will inspire more of them to get in the game.”

Houlahan’s professional background as an engineer spurred the 314 Action Campaigns Team to reach out and provide early guidance leading up to her launch.
314 Action is a nonprofit 501(c)(4) that was founded by members of the STEM community, grassroots supporters and political activists. Despite being a recently formed organization, 314 Action has over 125,000 active members and donors across the United States. 314 Action is concerned that STEM education in the United States is falling further and further behind the rest of the world, that our political leaders continue to deny scientific facts and that Congress fails to fully fund scientific research so we can solve pressing environmental issues like climate change and social problems like gun violence.
