314 Action Endorses Computer Programmer Jacky Rosen for U.S. Senate in Nevada
Rosen Built a Successful Career as a Computer Programmer in the Male-Dominated Tech Industry Before Being Elected to Congress
(Washington, D.C.) -- Today, 314 Action announced its endorsement of Rep. Jacky Rosen, who is running for U.S. Senate in Nevada. The endorsement marks 314 Action’s first Senate-level endorsement this cycle.
Rep. Jacky Rosen released the following statement:
“I’m proud to be using my life experience as a woman working in technology to give back to my community and fight for better policy-making that’s based on science, research and evidence. From health care and climate change to President Trump’s Cabinet nominees, Senator Heller’s voting record has been dictated by political calculations and blind partisan ideology rather than what’s best for Nevada families. I’m grateful to 314 Action for their endorsement and their continued advocacy for the STEM community.”
Founder and Board President of 314 Action Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:
“Today, more than ever, we need Jacky Rosen in the U.S. Senate and 314 Action is proud to stand with her. With President Trump and Senator McConnell threatening to take away access to affordable health care from millions of Americans, the people of Nevada deserve a Senator who will fight for them. Throughout her career, Jacky has always been a fierce advocate for working families and when she is elected to the U.S. Senate, she will continue to work on the issues that are most important to Nevadans like healthcare, cyber security and improving our education system.”
Quick facts about Jacky:
After a career as a computer programmer and software developer, Jacky decided she wanted to continue to make a real difference in her community and was elected to represent Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.
Jacky is a strong advocate for renewable energy. As the former President of her synagogue, she led a team to construct one of the largest solar arrays in her community, which reduced their energy bills by over 70%.
Jacky currently represents Southern Nevada in Congress, where she is part of a small group of Representatives with a background in science and technology. The first bill she introduced was to restore internet privacy protections.
314 Action has also endorsed challengers Hans Keirstead (CA-48) and Chrissy Houlahan (PA-6), as well as incumbents Jerry McNerney (CA-9), Paul Tonko (NY-20), and Louise Slaughter (NY-25).
314 Action is a nonprofit 501(c)(4) that was founded by members of the STEM community, grassroots supporters and political activists. Despite being a recently formed organization, 314 Action has over 225,000 active members and donors across the United States. 314 Action is concerned that STEM education in the United States is falling further and further behind the rest of the world, that our political leaders continue to deny scientific facts and that Congress fails to fully fund scientific research so we can solve pressing issues.
