314 Action Calls on Scott Taylor to Take a Stand on Access to Health Coverage for His Constituents
314 Action today called on Rep. Scott Taylor, the newly chosen GOP nominee for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, to clarify his position on health insurance coverage for the 1.4 million Virginians who have pre-existing conditions.
Last week the Trump Administration signaled support for a lawsuit that if successful, would allow insurance companies to charge older or sick people higher premiums or deny them coverage outright.
Rep. Taylor has repeatedly said he supports the protections, and even spoke about them during a weekly radio address last year for the Virginia GOP, saying “We will protect those with preexisting conditions, But Taylor’s actions belie his words. He voted for the Trump Health care bill, which according to the American Medical Association "could make coverage unaffordable for people with pre-existing conditions."
When asked about his health care votes Taylor responded “You will always know where I stand, which means I’m accountable for everything I do.”
“Scott Taylor should live up to his promise and tell Virginia voters where he stands,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. ”Although there is little question for someone who has voted with President Trump 98% of the time over the past year.”
314 Action has endorsed Elaine Luria.
