314 Action Spearheaded a Draft Mark Kelly Campaign to Build Grassroots Support

(Washington, D.C.) -- Today, Mark Kelly, astronaut and Democratic candidate for Arizona’s U.S. Senate seat currently held by Martha McSally, reported he raised a game-changing $604,000 from 9,700 donors after announcing his candidacy yesterday.

Last month, 314 Action launched a Draft Mark Kelly campaign that helped to build grassroots support and excitement around Kelly’s run, garnering tens of thousands of petition signatures and helping to further lay a national grassroots groundwork for his campaign announcement.

Director of Communications of 314 Action,Ted Bordelon, released the following statement:

“This historic fundraising haul demonstrates without question the power of Captain Kelly’s message and the strength of his campaign, and it unequivocally sets him apart as the strongest choice for Democrats to win this seat. In just 24 hours, Mark set himself apart as the most formidable candidate to challenge Martha McSally in the general election.”

Kelly has been a tireless and outspoken advocate for the most pressing issue of our time, climate change. And his experience as an astronaut ensure that he’ll bring a data-driven, evidence based approach to policy-making if elected to the Senate. It’s why 314 Action launched and why we are proud to support him.
