314 Action Fund Congratulates Congresswoman-Elect Jacqui Irwin on Victory in CA-26

Jacqui Irwin is the Congresswoman-elect for California’s 26th Congressional District. In response, 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Congresswoman-elect Jacqui Irwin on her victory in California’s 26th Congressional District,” said 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton. “For more than a decade, Jacqui has delivered practical solutions that improve lives, from protecting consumers and advancing cybersecurity to supporting veterans, strengthening gun safety, and addressing climate change. Her record demonstrates the value of having results-oriented engineers in public office. With scientific expertise under attack by Trump and RFK Jr., we are lucky to have a leader like Jacqui heading to Washington to fight for evidence-based policy.”

“Jacqui has repeatedly shown what true leadership looks like in a crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped bring together local governments, researchers, businesses, and nonprofits to launch a countywide antibody testing study in Ventura County, supporting vulnerable communities with testing while helping researchers better understand the virus’s spread. After the Borderline Shooting in Thousand Oaks in 2018, she took practical steps to make her community safer, strengthening Gun Violence Restraining Orders and securing $3 million in funding for a program that recovered firearms from individuals who should not have had them. Jacqui is an effective legislator and leader, and we look forward to working with her in Washington to continue making progress on these issues,” Naughton added.

Jacqui Irwin is a trained systems engineer and longtime public servant who has spent more than two decades in civic leadership. Before serving 12 years in the California State Assembly, she was elected mayor of Thousand Oaks and served on its City Council. In the Assembly, Irwin has authored and passed legislation to protect the environment, create jobs, support service members and veterans, and keep families safe. She currently chairs the Joint Legislative Committee on Climate Change Policies and serves on committees focused on agriculture, business and professions, higher education, and privacy and consumer protection.
