ICYMI: Representative Tom Kean Jr. Refuses to Answer if He’s Running for Re-Election in NJ-07

July 1, 2026

(Philadelphia, PA) — Yesterday, Representative Tom Kean Jr. returned to Congress following a four month absence. When asked by reporters if he’s running for re-election in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, Representative Kean Jr. did not respond.

“For months, Congressman Tom Kean Jr. left his constituents without representation in Congress with no explanation. While he was able to receive the care he needed, it doesn’t change the fact that he failed to fulfill his duties to the people of NJ-07,” said Grace Silva, spokesperson for 314 Action. “Now, he’s refusing to answer the most simple question: is he running for re-election? Following months of silence, voters deserve to know if he is committed to completing his term, and running to represent them again. If not—it’s time for him to get out of the way and give New Jerseyans the chance to be represented by someone who will show up for them—and that’s Rebecca Bennett.”
