314 Action Fund Congratulates Allison Russo on Victory for Ohio Secretary of State

314 Action Fund congratulates Allison Russo on her successful election to serve as Ohio’s next Secretary of State. She replaces outgoing Secretary Frank LaRose following years of peddling misinformation and election fraud claims. In response, 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naguthon released the following statement:

“314 Action Fund congratulates Allison Russo on her historic victory to become Ohio’s next Secretary of State,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “Allison Russo is the leader Ohioans deserve to defend the Constitution, restore trust, and ensure our elections remain firmly in the hands of the states. Tonight, voters entrusted Russo with the responsibility of serving as Ohio’s top election official because of her proven record of public service and commitment to protecting Ohioans’ rights.

“As the Trump administration continues its unprecedented attacks on data privacy, election administration, and citizen-led ballot measures, Ohio needs a steadfast leader who will stand in the gap to defend our right to vote—and that’s Allison Russo. Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and no one is better equipped to lead in this moment than she is,” Naughton added.

314 Action Fund has a longstanding relationship with Russo, first endorsing her in her successful and historic 2018 election to the Ohio House of Representatives, when she became the first Democrat in a decade to flip a central Ohio seat. 314 Action again endorsed Russo for Congress in 2021.

Russo has served four terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, including as Minority Leader. During her tenure, she authored and co-authored dozens of bills signed into law, working to protect Ohioans’ health and democracy. Before entering public office, Russo spent 20 years working to solve some of the country’s most pressing policy challenges in health care, including improving care for seniors, veterans, and vulnerable communities.

A public health leader with a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and a Doctor of Public Health in Health Policy, Russo is a Guardians of Public Health candidate, answering the call to serve her community as 314 Action works to elect 100 new doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals to office by 2030.
