Doctor, scientist and mom Dr. Gallitano clears competitive primary for crucial flip district in Arizona Senate
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Dr. Amelia Gallitano is the Democratic nominee for Arizona Legislative District 2. She cleared a competitive primary for the Phoenix-area Senate district, which is a crucial flip opportunity for Arizona Democrats. In response, 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:

This is the best chance Democrats have had in decades to flip the legislature in Arizona and as a doctor and scientist, Dr. Gallitano proved tonight that she has the trust and confidence of voters to flip the district in November,” said 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton.

As a doctor, PhD neuroscientist, and professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Dr. Gallitano is one of 314 Action’s Guardians of Public Health. She answered the call to serve her community as 314 Action works to elect 100 new doctors, nurses and health care professionals to office by 2030, raising and spending over $25 million in the effort.
Arizona Legislative District 2 is a top target to flip the State Senate and break the Republican majority for the first time in over 30 years. The swing district has become a key battleground in the fight to secure the majority in the legislature.
