Rebecca Harned is the Senator-elect for New Hampshire’s 7th Senate District, defeating incumbent Republican Senator Dan Innis, who has held the seat since 2022. Following her victory, 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:
“Congratulations to Rebecca Harned on flipping a tough seat for Democrats in New Hampshire. A working parent and research scientist with experience advancing public safety and disaster preparedness under three Presidential administrations, Rebecca has spent her career putting evidence into action and delivering results. We’re thrilled to see her head to Concord to fight for stronger local economies and more resilient communities across New Hampshire,” said 314 Acton President Shaughnessy Naughton.
“Rebecca’s victory is a major step forward for the Granite State. Rep. Innis was happy to sit idly by and call climate change ‘incremental’––but Rebecca will take action on the crisis. As a scientist studying risk and community resilience, she understands that stewarding the Granite State’s natural resources is both an economic and scientific imperative. In the State Senate, she will work to protect New Hampshire’s forests, lakes, and wildlife, expand renewable energy, and lower household energy costs,” Naughton added.
Rebecca Harned is a research scientist, working parent, and public servant. She spent more than a decade in Washington, D.C., working under the Obama, Biden, and Trump administrations on public safety and disaster preparedness initiatives. Her priorities include lowering costs, protecting public schools, and building a more affordable future for New Hampshire families.
