With two days until Election Day, 314 Action Fund today reaffirmed its support for Abdul El-Sayed for the U.S. Senate in Michigan after endorsing him in the primary and announced it is going all in to turn out pro-science voters across the state. As an epidemiologist and doctor, El-Sayed is a Guardians of Public Health candidate, part of 314 Action’s effort to elect 100 new doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals to office by 2030.
“Haley Stevens’ decision to endorse Mike Rogers two days before the election is a shameful betrayal of the Democratic voters who trusted her and of the working families who can’t afford another vote for Trump’s agenda,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action.
“She endorsed Abdul after the primary. Now she’s lending her name to a candidate who would gut the healthcare Michiganders depend on. Michigan deserves better than last-minute political stunts. Abdul didn’t just talk about fixing a broken system. He rebuilt Detroit’s Health Department, got lead out of Detroit’s elementary schools, and spearheaded a program to cancel up to $700 million in medical debt for 300,000 Michiganders. 314 Action is proud to stand with Abdul, and we’ll be working every hour between now and when the polls close to send him to the U.S. Senate.”
