(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — 314 Action Fund today endorsed Dr. Tina Shah for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. As an intensive care doctor, Dr. Shah is a Guardian of Public Health candidate. She’s answering the call to serve her community as 314 Action works to elect 100 new doctors, nurses and health care professionals to office by 2030, raising and spending over $25 million in the effort.
“Dr. Tina Shah has seen firsthand how broken our health care system is—and now she’s ready to change it from the inside out,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “As an ICU physician, Dr. Shah has spent her life caring for patients at their most vulnerable, sitting at their bedside as they face rising costs, insurance denials, and political dysfunction that puts lives at risk. With RFK Jr. and Trump attacking our public health, we need a doctor’s voice to represent New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. She has the real-life experience, expertise, and skills we can count on to deliver real change to our healthcare system. We’re proud to endorse Dr. Shah and look forward to supporting her campaign.”
“While Trump and Congressional Republicans like Representative Tom Kean Jr. are cutting corners on health insurance to look like they are saving money, what they are really doing is letting people die—I’m running to stop that,” said Dr. Tina Shah. “Tom Kean Jr. has left our district to fend for ourselves. He voted to cut over $1 trillion in funding for crucial health programs, making systemic problems I face in the hospital every day even worse. I’ve worked in the public sector, the private sector, and served under three presidential administrations—I understand what it takes to turn ideas into solutions. It’s time New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District had someone who shows up for them. I’m proud to be endorsed by 314 Action as they work to elect more doctors, nurses, and public health experts to Congress.”
Dr. Tina Shah is an intensive care doctor who has spent her career fighting for her patients and to improve the quality of care in New Jersey and across the country. A triple board-certified physician, Dr. Shah got to work to fix our broken healthcare system from both the public and private sectors. She served under three presidential administrations, developing innovative strategies to expand access to healthcare to veterans and leading the first federal plan to combat the burnout that drove doctors and nurses out of the field. In New Jersey, she successfully fought for legislation that stopped insurance companies from denying care. She also led efforts to cut red tape for doctors and nurses, freeing them to focus on patients and outcomes instead of paperwork.
