February 24, 2026

(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Today 314 Action Fund, the nation’s only organization dedicated to recruiting, training and electing doctors and scientists endorsed Jacqui Irwin for California’s 26th Congressional District.

“We were proud to stand with Jacqui Irwin as she ran for California Assembly and we’re proud to endorse her again for California’s 26th Congressional District,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “For over a decade, Jacqui has fought to improve the lives of Californians—and she’s delivered, passing legislation that protects our environment, builds infrastructure, and creates jobs. Her pro-science leadership exemplifies why it’s crucial to elect STEM candidates to office, up and down the ballot. We’re proud to endorse Jacqui and look forward to supporting her campaign.”

“At a time when affordability, health care, and public safety are under attack, Californians deserve to be represented by someone who will always stand up for them—and I’m ready to do just that in Congress,” said Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin. “I’ve spent the last two decades working to strengthen and protect our community as Mayor of Thousand Oaks and as a legislator within the California Assembly. As an engineer, I know that practical, lasting results are possible when legislation is backed by data. For nearly a decade, 314 Action has led the charge in electing pro-science leaders and I couldn’t be prouder to have their support once again.”

Jacqui Irwin is a trained system engineer and experienced public servant with two decades of leadership in civic service. She has served for 12 years in the California State Assembly and previously was elected the Mayor of Thousand Oaks and served on the Thousand Oaks City Council. In the Assembly, she authored and passed numerous pieces of legislation to protect the environment, create jobs, support military service members, and keep families and children safe. Irwin currently chairs the Joint Legislative Committee on Climate Change Policies and is a member of the Agriculture Committee, Business and Professions Committee, Higher Education Committee, and the Privacy & Consumer Protection Committee.

314 Action is the only national organization working to recruit, train and elect Democratic scientists across all levels of government—from the Senate down to local school boards. The organization is powered by a grassroots community of over six million people supporting scientists and health care professionals who will use science and facts to address the most urgent issues facing our generation.
