314 Action Fund Endorses Rep. Emilia Sykes for Re-Election to Ohio’s 13th Congressional District

314 Action Fund today endorsed Rep. Emilia Sykes for re-election to continue serving Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. As a lifelong public servant who holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Rep. Sykes is a Guardians of Public Health candidate. She’s answering the call to serve as 314 Action aims to elect 100 new doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals by 2030, raising and spending over $25 million in the effort.

“Representative Emilia Sykes has spent her career in public service advocating for her community and making sure that their voices are heard, and now she’s running to continue serving Ohio’s 13th Congressional District,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “With her background in public health, Rep. Sykes understands how dangerous Trump and RFK Jr.’s efforts to undermine public health are and she’s ready to fight to protect scientific research and health services for Ohioans.”

“During my time in Congress, I’ve brought over $300 million back to Ohio’s 13th District while tirelessly pursuing bipartisan legislation to ensure Americans get the federal support they need,” said Rep. Emilia Sykes. “While this administration dismantles America’s public health infrastructure and slashes funding for vital research, I’m focused on fighting against cuts to Medicaid, lowering the cost of essentials like gas, groceries, healthcare and housing, funding our public schools and cracking down on corruption. I’m proud to be endorsed by 314 Action Fund as I run to keep this seat blue and protect our nation’s public health.”

Rep. Emilia Sykes holds a Masters in Public Health and Juris Doctor with a certificate in Family Law from the University of Florida. First elected to Congress in 2022, she’s the first Black person elected to represent OH-13. She serves on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, and is the ranking member on its Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee. In Congress, she’s passed bipartisan bills such as the Lower Your Taxes Act, the RAIL Act, and the Mental Health Improvement Act — each of which have demonstrated her commitment to the safety and success of Northeast Ohio and its citizens.
