“The damage is done and his political career is over”: 314 Action President slams Sen. Cassidy over CDC Vote
Today, the United States Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee voted to advance the nomination of Dr. Erica Schwartz for Director of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to a confirmation vote before the U.S. Senate. 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement:
“Senator Cassidy has done it again. During her nomination hearing, Dr. Erica Schwartz made it clear that she is unfit to lead the CDC and proved she is poised to become another Trump loyalist. Despite her trainwreck performance, Senate Republicans led by Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) today pushed her nomination forward.
“Senator Cassidy cast the deciding vote to confirm RFK Jr. and today, he betrayed his Hippocratic Oath again. It’s clear he’s been cajoled by an administration that traffics in lies to vote for Dr. Erica Schwartz at the expense of the American people. Ultimately, this political move won’t rewind the clock and can’t save him from his humiliating primary loss. The damage has been done and his political career is over.
“We urge the U.S. Senate to rebuke RFK Jr.’s dangerous public health agenda and reject Dr. Schwartz’s nomination. Our nation’s health depends on it.”
