(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Tonight, as Donald Trump delivered his State of the Union address, he spun lies about his administration’s health care agenda. 314 Action President Shaughnessy Naughton released the following statement in response:
“As millions of Americans struggle to afford their health care, Trump used his SOTU address to score points on a losing issue for Republicans. The majority of Americans do not trust Republicans with their health care—because they know the GOP are the architects of this crisis.
“The state of health care in this country has never been worse: we’re in the midst of the worst measles outbreak in 25 years, Republicans gutted a trillion dollars from Medicaid, and health care premiums have doubled or even tripled. Trump’s ‘Great Healthcare Plan’ is a scam, and in many cases, nearly half of the drugs on TrumpRX cost patients more than generics already available in the market. This is classic Trump—more name-brand failures and no relief for the American people.
“The reality is, Americans cannot afford to get sick under this administration. Even as he claims health care will be his number one issue in the midterms—it’s clear that Trump has no real plan to address the affordability and health care crisis.
