Pro-Science Group Backs Dr. Amish Shah and Dr. Amelia Gallitano to Flip Two of the State’s Swing Districts
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — Two doctors endorsed by 314 Action Fund in Arizona are now their party’s official nominees after wins fueled in part by the organization’s direct investment in their campaigns. 314 Action is the nation’s only organization dedicated to recruiting, training and electing doctors and scientists to public office—and is the driving force behind the growing number of doctors running this cycle.
On Tuesday, ER doctor Dr. Amish Shah won a rematch in the primary for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, beating former Republican and broadcaster Marlene Galán-Woods again in the competitive primary. Despite being outspent, Shah won by a more than 5% margin—widening his lead from the 2024 head-to-head with Galán-Woods.
PhD neuroscientist and doctor Dr. Amelia Gallitano also won her primary for Arizona Legislative District 2 on Tuesday.
Both doctors backed by 314 Action Fund are top targets for Democrats this cycle. Their primary wins put Arizona Democrats on track to help win back the House majority and flip the Arizona legislature for the first time in decades.
314 Action Fund was proud to support Dr. Shah for AZ-01 by:
- Formed a six-figure Joint Fundraising Committee with his campaign.
- Aired a $300,000 television ad campaign spotlighting his work as an emergency room physician.
- Advised his team on day-to-day political, communications, and organizing activities.
314 Action Fund was proud to support Dr. Gallitano for AZ-LD-02 by:
- Maxed out with $5,500 contribution to Dr. Gallitano’s campaign.
- Provided operational, communications and fundraising support.
In response to the pair’s victories in Arizona this week, 314 Action Executive Director Erik Polyak released the following statement:
